I love lists. Amazon lists, year-end lists, summer reading lists, winter reading lists, best-seller lists. I love them all. There’s so much good fiction out that it’s impossible to be aware of it all. So lists really help. We should start a list here! NaNoWriMo?

Yeah, I thought it was the Japanese cell phone format or something, but no! It’s National Novel Writing Month! Aww geez, I’m like four days late, which means I’ve got to pump out about 2,000 words per day. The gist is to write a 175-page, 50,000 word novel in November! C’mon you can do it too! Riiiiiight. Closer to 3,000 words a day to make up for Thanksgiving break, vacation travel and what not. Ug!

Living to 1,000

The Washington Post reports on a new book by Aubrey de Grey that posits that some folks alive today may well live for 1,000 years. Well, actually, they report on his claims and the contest held to debunk his theories of treating aging as a disease — and curing it. De Grey’s book has indeed just been published. And, no scientist won the contest, leaving it all rather amibiguous.

And yeah, Aubrey just looks soooo cyberpunk!

An interview with said titled second wave cyberpunk author. Or was he first wave? At work on lunchtime right now so don’t have resources to check that out, or read this, but I will read this, cause it’s an interview with a sci-fi author! And he mentions nearly all my favorites at one point!
